Home Remedies for Female Infertility (Sterility)
Some of the home remedies for female sterility or infertility include the use of banyan roots, blackberry leaves, vitamin C, vitamin E, and zinc in different forms. Exercises, yoga, and warm water are also useful and prove to be easy home remedies for female sterility or infertility.
The inability to reproduce or implant an egg in the uterus is called female infertility, which can often be due to ovulation disorder. One of the other primary causes is pelvic inflammatory disease. Women with pelvic inflammatory disease are easily prone to problems of infertility. Age can also be considered as one of the strongest reasons for infertility in women. Smoking also affects the internal system badly and can lead to infertility in women. Apart from this, hormonal imbalances can also account for fertility issues.
As per the American Pregnancy Association, men are equally responsible for infertility and both the partners need to undergo certain medical and physical tests for proper diagnosis of the problem of infertility. Infertility can also lead to miscarriages and it becomes increasingly difficult for a woman to face the emotions of infertility. It can lead to depression and isolation, which can be very harmful for any human being, and can also lead to other diseases, both physical and mental.
Banyan Tree Bark for Female Infertility:-
- The Banyan Tree Bark is traditionally used in the ayurvedic treatment of various medical conditions and ailments, including Female Sterility.
- To make this remedy one must take a piece of banyan tree bark and wash it thoroughly.
- Remove the outer covering of the bark and leave it in the sun to dry for at least an hour.
- Once dry crush this bark into a powder.
- Take two tablespoons of this powder and add it to one glass of lukewarm milk.
- Mix well and drink this preparation on an empty stomach.
- To be effective this remedy must be repeated daily for six months except when menstruating.
Yoga for Female Infertility:-
- Yoga is an ancient Indian practice that consists of breathing and stretching exercises that are responsible for the maintenance of the body’s systems and the health and youth of an individual practising them.
- Many exercises like the Sarvangasana, Ardhyamatsyendrasana, Shalabhasana and Paschimottasana are recommended to cure various reproductive problems, maintain the health of the reproductive system and removing all the factors that are physically blocking the reproductive organs or tubes thus causing Female Sterility.
Diet for Female Infertility:-
- A healthy balanced diet is very important to maintain the systems of the body functioning properly.
- The diet does not really have a direct effect of curing Female Sterility, but female fertility can be improved by making a few dietary changes.
- Fruits and vegetables contain anti oxidants which are useful in maintaining and boosting the health of the reproductive system.
- Omega3 Fatty acids found in nuts, seeds and avocadoes are very good in improving the condition of Female Sterility.
- Certain foods can bedetrimental on the fertility levels of ladies.
- Any food high in mercury has to be avoided as they cause increased Female Sterility. Overconsumption of Caffeine can be one of the major reasons for the lack of conception.
- Excessive Alcohol consumption affects the proper functioning of ovaries.
- Fast foods and any food high in sodium content must be avoided as they lead to weight gain which in turn leads to Female Sterility.
- Artificial sweeteners and food wrapped in plastic or kept in plastic containers must also be avoided as the increase the levels of infertility.
Ashwagandha for Female Infertility:-
- Plus, this herb helps reduce your stress level.
- It also helps tone the uterus for those who have recurrent miscarriages.
- This herb is effective in maintaining hormonal balance and promoting proper functioning of the reproductive organs.
- Ashwagandha, also called Indian ginseng, is very helpful for women having difficulty conceiving.
- Mix 1 tablespoon of ashwagandha powder in a glass of warm water.
- Drink it twice daily.
Note: Due to possible side effects, it is recommended to use this herb under medical supervision.
Pomegranate for Female Infertility:-
- Pomegranate also boosts fertility in women.
- It helps increase blood flow to the uterus and thickens the uterine lining to reduce the chance of miscarriage.
- Plus, it promotes healthy development of the fetus.
- According to a 2015 study published in Pharmacognosy Magazine, pomegranate could be used as a supplement to enhance longevity, fertility and growth rate. However, the dose should be carefully adjusted to avoid adverse effects.
- Mix equal amounts of finely powdered pomegranate seeds and bark and store it in an airtight jar. Take ½ teaspoon of this mixture with a glass of warm water twice daily for a few weeks.
- You can also eat fresh pomegranate fruit and drink pomegranate juice.
Chasteberry for Female Infertility:-
- If infertility is due to a hormonal imbalance in the body, an effective remedy is chasteberry, also called vitex.
- This herb helps improve ovulation due to its high prolactin levels. Plus, it combats PCOS.
- Add 1 teaspoon of fresh or dried chasteberries to a cup of boiling water.
- Cover, steep for 10 minutes and strain it. Drink this tea once daily for a few weeks or months.
- You can take chasteberry supplements, available as capsules, liquid extract or tinctures.
- For proper dosage and suitability, consult your doctor.
Note: As this herb affects certain hormones, it may not be suitable for women with a hormone-sensitive condition like breast cancer or those who are taking antipsychotic drugs. Plus, do not use this herb if you are undergoing in vitro fertilization.
Maca Root for Female Infertility:-
- Another effective herb that can treat infertility in both women and men is the maca root.
- This herb boosts normal hormone production and is particularly beneficial for women with hypothyroidism as it supports thyroid function.
- It is also a good source of different nutrients that boost fertility.
- Mix ¼ to ½ teaspoon of maca root powder in a cup of lukewarm water or milk. Drink it once daily for a few months. You can also add maca root powder to your smoothies or breakfast cereal.
- Another option is to take a maca root supplement, but only after consulting your doctor.
Note: Do not take this herb during pregnancy.
Cinnamon for Female Infertility:-
- Cinnamon can help with proper ovarian functioning and thus be effective in fighting infertility.
- It evenhelps in the treatment of PCOS, one of the main causes of infertility.
- A 2007 study published in the Fertility and Sterility journal showed that cinnamon supplementation can help improve menstrual cyclicity in women with PCOS.
- It is also used to treat problems such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids and amenorrhea (absence of menstrual periods) that can affect a woman’s fertility. Plus, cinnamon may help prevent yeast infections.
- Add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a cup of hot water. Drink it once daily for a few months.
- Also, include cinnamon in your diet by sprinkling cinnamon powder on your cereal, oatmeal, and yogurt.
Note: Do not consume more than 2 teaspoons of this spice per day.
