How to Get Rid of a Black Eye Fast

The most common cause of a black eye is a blow to the face. Black eyes can cause pain, blurry vision, swelling and headaches. It is a sort of bruising to the tissues around the eyes.

Black eye and swelling around the eyes  can also occur for a variety of reasons such as nasal injuries, facelifts, jaw surgery, allergic reactions, etc.

The following remedies can help you quickly get rid of a black eye. However, if the skin around your eye is cut or you are having symptoms like dizziness, nausea or vomiting along with vision problems, you should consult your doctor immediately.

Symptoms of a Black Eye :

A black eye is usually pretty obvious, and never a pretty sight. If you think you have a black eye, here are some tell-tale signs that your suspicions are correct.
• Discoloration around the Eye
• Swelling or Pain in the Eye Area
• Headaches
• Difficulty Opening the Eye
• Vomiting in Extreme Cases

Ice Pack :-

    • Putting an icepack on the affected eye will help to reduce swelling by making the blood vessels constrict.
    • Take a piece of ice and rub it gently on around the eye that has been traumatized.
  • This will help to take away any pain you may be experiencing because it will numb the area.
  • Ice your black eye every hour for the first 24 hours and you will see quick results in taking away your black eye.
  • Don’t use the frozen steak trick.
  • There could be bacteria in the steak that could cause infection if there is any sort of tear in the skin around the eye.

Warm Compress :-

    • After one or two days of getting a black eye, you need to apply warm compresses.
    • This will help increase blood flow to the tissues around the eye and accelerate the healing process.
    • Dip a clean cloth in warm water, and squeeze out the excess water.
  • Put the warm cloth on the affected eye until the cloth becomes cool.
  • Repeat the process several times a day.
  • If it doesn’t cause pain, you can also massage the area gently.
  • This will help improve blood circulation and remove the dried blood accumulated under the skin.

Raw Potato :-

  • Using raw potatoes is one of the best ways to get rid of a black eye fast.
  • All you need to do to use this method is grate some fresh potatoes and place them over your closed eye.
  • Leave it on for at least fifteen minutes to significantly reduce swelling and see fast results.
  • You may also want to use sliced potatoes which will work just as well as those that are grated.

Vitamin C :-

  • When suffering from a black eye, it is very important to include foods with vitamin C in your diet.
  • There are many food items rich in vitamin C such as Indian gooseberries, guavas, peppers, limes, lemons, broccoli, mangos and oranges.
  • Vitamin C helps thicken the walls of the blood vessels, aiding the healing process.
  • Alternatively, you can take a vitamin C supplement to give your body the needed daily dose.

Vitamin K :-

    • Vitamin K will help reduce any inflammation that has happened due to trauma.
    • It is good to combine with your vitamin C and any other home remedy.
  • Taking a supplement works fine, or you can get vitamin K through foods like spinach, broccoli, or Brussels sprouts.

Chilled Tea Bags :-

  • Chilled tea bags provide soothing relief for a black eye.
  • It is the tannins in the tea that help to get rid of a black eye and this method will work very well.
  • Refrigerate your used tea bags and keep them available to place on the black eye at least five times a day for fifteen minutes on the first day.

Calendula :-

Calendula, also known as marigold, is commonly used to reduce inflammation and promote wound healing. It can also be used to reduce the swelling and bruising associated with black eye.

  • Put a handful of petals separated from fresh calendula flowers in a cup of hot water.
  • Allow it to steep for 10 to 15 minutes and then place it in the refrigerator for about half an hour
  • Soak a clean washcloth in this cool solution and place it on the eye area for about 5 minutes.
  • Do this a few times for a few days.

Arnica :-

    • Arnica is one of the best herbs you can take for trauma.
    • It helps heal muscle and tissues quickly but you will want to begin using it immediately for it to work the best.
  • If you experience trauma to the eye, it is wise to begin using arnica right away.
  • You may take arnica orally in a supplement form and also rub arnica oil on the skin around the eye a few times a day.
  • Doing so will help to quickly get rid of a black eye.

Pineapple :-

  • Pineapple is an excellent food that helps hasten the healing process.
  • You can apply crushed pineapple to the black eye or drink pineapple juice.
  • Either way is effective, but if you don’t want to put the pineapple on your eyes, you should still continue to drink pineapple juice and use other remedies to help get rid of your black eye faster.
