Natural Home Remedies for Menstrual Cramps and Irregular Menstrual PeriodsDS

Production of hormones in the woman’s body like estrogen and progesterone starts development of her body. Menstruation is a usual and natural process and women experience many problems before and during menstruation period such as excessive blood flow, abdominal cramps, sudden stoppage of blooding, development of clots, delay in menstrual periods etc.

Cinnamon :-

Cinnamon is very helpful in curing excessive menstrual bleeding; consumption of cinnamon gives you warming effects. Cinnamon can normalize the irregular menstrual cycles and also reduces menstrual cramps. Cinnamon contains hydroxychalcone which helps regulate insulin levels; it can improve the body’s ability to produce glucose and insulin. 

  1. Mix ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder (dalchini) with glass of milk, drink this mixture every day before going to bed at night for few weeks.
  1. Add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder in your regular or herbal tea, drink this warm tea daily. Drink this tea once or twice a day.
  1. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder on the fruit or vegetables salad or add cinnamon in your regular food.
  1. Mix ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder with glass of carrot juice, also add 1 tablespoon of honey in it. Drink the juice in the every morning for several weeks.
  1. Add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder in 1 tablespoon of honey and consume this mixture every day to regulate your menstrual periods.
  1. Take ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder, and 2 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, add both of them in glass of warm water and drink once a day for few weeks.

Ginger :-

Ginger is highly beneficial in regulating menstrual cycles and also relieving menstrual pain. It promotes menstruation and hence is good when dealing with delayed or scanty periods.

  1. Boil one-half teaspoon of freshly ground ginger in a cup of water for five to seven minutes.
  2. Add a little sugar.
  3. Drink this three times a day after meals.
  4. Do this for about one month or more.

Aloe Vera :-

Aloe vera helps treat menstrual irregularities naturally by regulating your hormones.

  1. Extract fresh aloe vera gel from an aloe leaf.
  2. Mix in one teaspoon of honey.
  3. Consume it daily before having your breakfast.
  4. Follow this remedy for about three months.

Note: Do not use this remedy during your periods.

Turmeric :-

Proper consumption of turmeric can regulate your menstrual periods, it also balance the hormones fluctuations. Turmeric can normalize all reproductive organs and itsemmenagogue properties stimulates menstrual flow.

Turmeric has antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties, which reduces menstrual pain, muscle pain and abdominal cramps.

  1. Mix one-quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder with glass of warm milk, also add one tablespoon of honey or jaggery in it. Drink this every day until you see improvement in your menstrual periods.
  1. Add a pinch of turmeric powder in cup of hot water and drink on regualar basis until the periods are normal.

Coriander Seeds :-

Due to its emmenagogue properties, coriander helps promote menstruation.

  1. Boil one teaspoon of coriander seeds in two cups of water until the quantity of water reduces to one cup. Strain the seeds from the liquid. Drink this three times daily for a few days prior to your period. Do this for a few months.
  2. You can also drink coriander juice daily for a few months.

Cold Packs :-

Some women find a cold pack to be more effective than hot bath in relieving menstrual pain. Cold pack helps constrict blood vessels, which provides relief from the cramps. Ice pack prepared by putting ice in a zipped plastic bag and covering it with a towel can be placed on the abdomen for 15 to 20 minutes.

Exercise :-

Once the muscle contractions of the dreaded cramps begin, blood flow in this region of the body decreases, resulting in more contractions – or in other words, stronger cramps. The best way to end this cycle is to exercise, which increases blood flow to the pelvic region. Although great benefits can be reaped from exercising during your period, regular exercise is an even better idea.

green papaya :-

Eating unripe and green papaya can help you normalize irregular periods because it works as a good and strong emmenagogue and helps in proper contraction of muscles fibbers of your uterus. It is specifically beneficial for delayed periods associated with menopause. Eat unripe papaya for a couple of months and see the difference. Avoid consuming the same when having your periods.

Fennel seeds :-

Fennel seeds or saunf can also help you regulate your monthly periods. In order to have them, you need to mix 2 tbsp of fennel seeds in 1 glass water and let it stay overnight. Strain the water using a muslin cloth or strainer and drink it. Make sure to have this potion daily for positive results.

Basil leaves :-

Basil leaves are an excellent home remedy for menstrual problems. Using these leaves can help in getting relief from cramps. Basil leaves can be had in raw form or can be added in tea or as a spice in the food. It can also be added in water and drunk for relief from menstrual pain.
