Home Remedies for Back Pain , Neck Pain – Fast Pain Relief

Back pain and neck pain is one of the most common problems in the world today. Everyone goes through back ache problems at some point in their life. Most of the people take painkillers to relieve backache. But, there are few side effects associated with these painkiller medicines, hence, now day people choose natural home remedies for back pain.

Hot and Cold Packs :-

First, be sure to put ice on the injured area, then alternate with heat. The ice helps reduce inflammation by constricting the surrounding blood vessels and reducing blood flow and swelling. Apply ice for 15-20 minutes (not directly on the skin) at a time. After two days, heat should be applied to the area to increase blood flow.

Anti-Inflammatory Medication :-

Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) such as Advil, Nuprin or Ibuprofen have an advantage over other painkillers, because they also reduce swelling. People who are allergic to ibuprofen should try Aleve, Tylenol or Aspirin to reduce pain.

If you experience an attack of back pain, start taking NSAIDs for the next few days, as instructed on the bottle. They are much more effective if you can maintain a constant level of the drugs in your body. Try to avoid taking the pills and letting them wear off, before taking another dose the next day.

Keep Bed Rest to a Minimum :-

When you hurt, your body is telling you to stop doing the activity that is causing the pain. Back or neck pain can cause almost any activity to hurt. Lying down for a few days can seem like the most logical solution. However, more than two days of bed rest can cause the muscles in the back to weaken, making activity more painful and recovery slower. After one or two days, get up and move around. Take a slow walk to get moving again.

Honey with warm water :-

Add 1-2 tablespoon of honey to glass of warm water. Drink this mixture in the morning on an empty stomach; you can try this twice a day, 2 hours after lunch on an empty stomach. Hone with warm water is beneficial in backache.

Peppermint oil :-

Gently massage your lower and upper back in upward and circular motion with some mint oil for 5-10 minutes, leave the oil for overnight or 2 hours. Peppermint oil is very useful in head ache, muscle pain, nerve pain. It gives you cooling, soothing and energizing effects. Mint oil has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antis-spasmodic properties, so it relieves pain and inflammation, and also calm muscle cramps in lower and upper back.

Honey with glucose powder :-

Add 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoon of glucose powder in warm water (you can add sugar instead of honey, but honey is the best choice). Drink this mixture in the morning on an empty stomach. Repeat this after lunch on an empty stomach. This is very easy, yet helpful kitchen remedy to get rid of back pain.

Ginger :-

Ginger gives you many medicinal benefits such as curing vomiting, nausea, headache, cough etc, can also be used in the treatment of neck pain and back pain. Ginger anti-inflammatory properties which give you relief from a neck and backache.

Prepare some fresh ginger paste and directly apply on the painful area, followed by eucalyptus oil. Repeat this 2-3 times a day for fast pain relief.

Chamomile Tea :-

A cup of chamomile tea helps relax stressed muscle tissues that can be the cause or a associated symptom of a backache and neck pain.

Boil one tablespoon of chamomile flowers in your regular or herbal tea and drink it hot. Repeat this 2-3 times a day.

void smoking & tobacco :-

Use the right posture while sitting, standing and sleeping. Avoid smoking, tobacco and consumption of alcohol.
These home remedies and tips will surely reduce the severity and occurrence of back pain.

Medication, herbs and exercises are great for alleviating pain in the back. However, there are many other tips for back pain relief that you can also use for quicker results. Moreover, these tips are very effective in preventing recurrent bouts of back pain. Some of the common tips for back pain relief include:

  1. Giving up on unhealthy habits like smoking
  2. Using the right posture while sitting, standing and even sleeping
  3. Going for regular checkups to a chiropractor
  4. Getting an adequate amount of rest, sleep and exercise each day
  5. Practicing certain forms or asanas (poses) in Yoga like the Half Revolved Belly Pose (Ardha Jathara Parivarttanasana), the Cobra pose and the Triangle pose
  6. Relaxation techniques like meditation or deep breathing to relieve stress

These tips for back pain relief only reduce the severity and frequency of back pain. You would need to visit your doctor to ensure that your back pain is not a symptom of a more serious health condition.
