Happy Monday everyone.  We had a beautiful weekend, hope you did too!  Today we feature a fabulous smoothie to kick your week off right!!! It is autumn and the proof is in the pomegranates.  They are everywhere!  I love them and have been thinking of how many ways I can use them.  There is an amazing sale on them this week, so we are stocking up.  Did you know a pomegranate will last up to 2 months in the refrigerator and up to a month on the counter?  Also that you can remove the arils (seeds and the surrounding water-laden pulp) and freeze them? I can’t tell you all the ways that I can think of using these.  Smoothies, cocktails, sauces, salad dressings, pies, savory dishes.

Health Benefits of the Pomegranate :-

  • Most powerful anti-oxidant of all fruits
  • Potent anti-cancer and immune supporting effects
  • Inhibits abnormal platelet aggregation that could cause heart attacks, strokes and embolic disease
  • Lowers cholesterol and other cardiac risk factors

Nutritional Smoothie :-

Following pomegranate-banana smoothie has plenty of antioxidants than herbal or green tea. This combination will increase your immunity power and give glowing healthy skin. This smoothies tastes like a creamsicle, actually tastier than it. 
Pomegranate contains vitamin C (vital for healthy skin), fiber, protein, potassium, folate and vitamin K. 
On the other hand, blueberries, oranges and banana contain strong antioxidant, vitamin and minerals that boost your immunity.

If the size of a pomegranate is medium then it is considered that it contains 15% of vitamin C. this type of vitamin is useful in making the immune system better. The juice should be made out of pomegranate for the better immunity and health of heart.

Free radical damage in the body affects your cells and it leads to development of wrinkles and other signs of ageing. Polyphenolic compounds like tannins present in pomegranate are powerful antioxidants which delay the process of ageing, thus consumption of pomegranate gives you glowing skin.

Ingredients:

1 cup pomegranate seeds

1 peeled orange

1 large or 2 smaller, ripe, spotted banana

1 cup organic blueberries (optional)

1 cup milk

1 tablespoon vanilla (optional)

Method:

  • Blend all of these ingredients in blender; you can add more milk if required.
  • You can also use almond milk or add 2-3 almonds to smoothie.
  • Consume this smoothie in the morning on an empty stomach before breakfast or increase the quantity of above ingredients and have it instead of your breakfast.
  • Follow this every day for fast result.

Prevents Cancer :-

The great quantities of anti-oxidants, as well as vitamins present in the pomegranate, the free radicals can be controlled and they are not enabled to damage the useful human body cells. Pomegranates are highly useful in preventing different types of cancers including lungs cancer along with breast cancer etc.

When the Pomegranates are eaten on the daily basis then bones can be strengthened and the osteoarthritis can be controlled. Pomegranate Banana Beauty Booster Smoothie :-

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 juice of grapefruit
  • squeeze of lime
  • seeds of 1/2 pomegranate
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 apple, peeled and cored
  • 2 inches cucumber peeled
  • hemp seeds

 Directions :

Add everything except the hemp seeds to the blender. Puree top with hemp seeds and pomegranate jewels if desired.

ANTIOXIDANT RICH POMEGRANATE SMOOTHIE :-

  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1/2 banana
  • handful of spinach
  • 1 tablespoon of flax or hemp seeds

Add pomegranate juice, frozen raspberries and banana into the blender. Add in a heaping tablespoon of flax seeds or hemp seeds. Toss in a handful of spinach and blend until smooth. This recipe serves one smoothie equaling about 2 cups.

Pretty Pink Pomegranate Smoothie :-

  • 1 very ripe banana (for a thicker smoothie use a frozen banana)
  • 1/2 cup frozen pomegranate seeds
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 1/2 cups non-dairy milk (such as almond, vanilla soy, etc.)

Instructions :

  • Blend all ingredients together. This is delicious & very healthy! Serve. Sip. Smile.
